Creativity
This term Topic for the Senior Syndicate has been all about creating - dance, music, drama, culture and visual art. Visual art children studied the modern work of Pablo Picasso, developing their skills in shading, overlapping and design. Thanks to Gretchen over at gretchenbuwalda.blogspot.co.nz for her creative ideas and inspirational advice.
Here are some of the visual art works that were created in the first topic rotation by our Yr 4/5/6 children. Masterpieces I'm sure you will agree!

Creating with Fractions
Shout out to the girls at www.lessonplansos.com for this great fraction creativity task. The kids had a lot of fun creating an animal out of fraction pieces. They then had to write a 'recipe' for their creations. I like the integrated element of this activity. These pictures will be used for our calendar art too. We hope you like our animals!

Our garden has started out quite slowly. Lots of silverbeet but only a few lettuces!
Hope we get some more though.

Flat Stanley Math Problems
Over the first two weeks of term, Room 5 have been learning about measurement and time. We read a story called Flat Stanley and used problems Stanley faced in the book to learn how to solve word problems about measurement and time. It was lots of fun learning!
