Boulcott Battalions - ANZAC Week

Today there was a change of staff as our teachers went
from teachers to army officers!  Then
we had boot camp and tomorrow we have 4
different activities we will be doing in our battalions.

Homework - Whakapapa

Topic this term has been the Place Where We Stand.  For homework we researched our family backgrounds.  Charlie and Annabelle produced these family trees, they are BRILLIANT!

Passion Time

Inferring game

Room 13 is learning to infer meaning while reading by looking at clues in the text and in pictures.  We played the Mystery Box game to help us learn how to infer information from clues.  We each picked up the box and gave it a shake, then made a guess about what was inside.  Then four clues were given out 1 at a time.  From this we had to infer what was in the box.  It was a lot of fun and lots of people got it right!  We will keep playing the game until we are experts at inferring!

Recount Writing

Room 13 have been working hard on their recount writing.  They are learning how to write about a moment in time from a personal experience.  They have put together their success criteria for a good piece of writing.  Bella did a wonderful recount which she shared with the class.

Future Swimming Stars

The Senior Syndicate have started swimming skills this week.  This involves everyone participating 

in Kayaking, Boat Skills, Filippa Ball and Snorkeling.  During boat skills they have the opportunity to jump (with a life jacket on) from the high diving board!  Wow, it looks like amazing fun.
